A party of four adults and three children has been accused of a ‘dine and dash’ after failing to pay their hefty bill at a Cornwall restaurant.
The Reef & Beef in St Ives posted CCTV images of the group warning other businesses in the area to “stay vigilant” after the customers “fled” on Friday evening.
The incident occurred just days after similar events at the Lewinnick Lodge, another Cornwall eatery which overlooks Newquay Bay.
The group of seven dined on lobster, jumbo king prawns, sirloin steak, beers and even enjoyed pina colada and strawberry daiquiri cocktails.
The total bill came to over £220, with no service charge included.
In a post on their Facebook page, Reef & Beef said: “Yesterday at 18:47, four adults and their children dined at our restaurant and fled without paying a £220 bill”.
Reef & Beef reported the women left first with the children and one of the men used the emergency exit to escape the building.
The final member of the group initially remained seated at the table using his phone, so staff believed he intended to settle the bill.
However, instead of moving towards the bar to pay, the man “ran away”.
The restaurant also shared images of the group, which bear a strong resemblance to CCTV images of another suspected dine and dash shared by the Lewinnick Lodge.
The Newquay restaurant posted an image of two men who appear to be part of the same group who dodged their Reef & Beef bill.
The Lewinnick Lodge wrote: “If you know these two gentlemen, can you let them know they still need to pay their bill.
“Dining as a family of seven with children, asked for the bill then walking off without paying”.
Both restaurants have filed reports with Devon and Cornwall Police.
