An ‘informal cafe bar’ chain is believed to be opening up a branch at a popular shopping centre.
Lounges is currently advertising for a general manager for a restaurant at Springfields Outlet Shopping and Leisure in Spalding.
The chain offers a wide range of food and drinks through the day and evening since it was launched in Bristol more than 20 years ago with a focus on ‘hospitality, comfort and familiarity’.
Last month the Camel Gate shopping centre confirmed that it was in advanced talks with an ‘exciting new occupier’ for the former Frankie and Benny’s site. It’s not yet known whether Lounges is taking on this site or another space at the centre.
The general manager job description on the Lounges website states: “This is an exciting opportunity to join our new opening and become part of one of the most successful restaurant groups in the UK.
“Lounges are pretty special places, and what makes them so special is the brilliant people who run them. The person who runs the brilliant people who run the Lounge has to be super-brilliant, and that’ll be you.
“Your standards will be as high as ours, but exactly how you do it will be unique to you. You’ll be responsible for leading your team to deliver 14 great shifts, taking full ownership so your Lounge is an amazing and unique place to work and a great place to be for the local community. You’ll be making sure every customer leaves happy. Which they tend to do. Thanks to your super-brilliant management.”
The Lounges website shares that its branches offer gluten free and vegan menus along with being dog friendly.
It has branches in Grantham, Peterborough, King’s Lynn and Melton Mowbray — which go by the names of Cinco, Argo, Poco and Montero.
Parent company Loungers owns the Cosy Club and Brightside Roadside Dining brands.
The Lounges brand’s website states: “Our informal café bars are open all day, every day for long lazy breakfasts, brunch and lunch, or a relaxed dinner and drinks. We serve a wide range of food and drinks (including full kids, gluten-free and vegan menus), served in a relaxed, welcoming space.”
The proposed expansion of Springfields remains on hold due to the current state of the economy.
Springfields was granted planning permission nearly four years ago to add a further 18 new outlets which could create more than 350 jobs.
Centre owners were said to be looking to create 15 new retail units along with three food outlets – and hoped to attract major new names to the area.
The planning permission also includes requirement to spend £200,000 on town centre improvements, appointment of a Springfields Media Co-ordinator and interactive information screens.
