Cabaia opens its first shop in Germany

Must read

Cabaïa, the French accessories brand known for its interchangeable pompom hats and customisable backpacks, has opened its first shop on the German market. Already present in the country through retailers such as Zalando and Peek & Cloppenburg, the brand has chosen Cologne as the location for its first store.

Opened on July 20 at 50 Ehrenstraße, in the heart of Cologne’s old town, this first German shop will be joined on August 30 by a second shop in Düsseldorf.

“North Rhine-Westphalia is our main sales market in Germany, so it was obvious for us to open our own shop there. Cologne was an obvious choice: its cosmopolitan spirit is totally in keeping with the colourful spirit of our brand. We’re not ruling out other cities like Berlin and Munich for our expansion in Germany,” says Bastien Valensi, CEO and co-founder of Cabaia, which is also planning to open a subsidiary in Germany, now its second-largest market.

Founded in 2015 by Bastien Valensi and Emilien Foiret, Cabaia has around 30 shops in France and Belgium, in addition to its 2,000 retailers. In its 2022/23 financial year, the brand, which acquired a stake in Quilvest Capital Partners a year ago, recorded sales of 60 million euros. For 2023/24, the brand is forecasting sales of 100 million euros.
