Two schools have closed in Cornwall after parts of the county were left without water due to a burst main.
South West Water (SWW) said on X, formerly Twitter, that postcodes TR1 to TR16, including the St Agnes and Roseland areas, were experiencing “lower water pressure than usual or a loss of supply”. Problems were also reported in Threemilestone, Carnon Downs, Truro and Probus.
Cornwall Council said Threemilestone School had closed “due to no water at the school”. St Agnes Academy confirmed it had shut for the same reason.
A spokesperson for SWW said they expected water supply to be restored by 16:30 BST.
They said: “We are working hard to repair a burst on one of our large mains that supplies postcodes in the TR area of Cornwall.
“Customers in the area may be experiencing low water pressure or a temporary loss of supply.
“We are working to divert flows on our network to restore customer supplies as soon as possible whilst our teams work on fixing the burst.
“We are very sorry for the disruption caused.”
On X SWW said: “Some customers may continue to experience a supply interruption whilst the water pressure returns to the network.
“We anticipate the network to be recharged fully by 16:30.”
The firm did not confirm how many households were affected by the outage but said it apologised “for the inconvenience”.
It added: “When your supply is restored, you may experience discolouration, please run your tap until the discolouration clears.”

The firm also told a customer on X that it was experiencing “some technical issues” with its website, which it said it was “working on resolving”.
They added that users could bypass the error by selecting the “Your home” option on the top of the website’s home page.
