Mikel Arteta delivered a one-word answer when asked if Bukayo Saka will be fit for England‘s Euro 2024 campaign.
The Arsenal talisman was a surprise absentee as the Gunners beat Everton on Sunday, but missed out on the Premier League title to Manchester City.
“Unfortunately he picked up a small muscle injury in training,” Arteta said ahead of the game. “He wasn’t available to play, but fortunately we have some great players, [Gabriel] Martinelli steps in.”
Saka had previously been struggling with a cut to his leg, but shook off that injury only to pick up the muscle complaint.
England manager Gareth Southgate will name his squad for the Germany tournament this coming Thursday, and Arteta sees no reason why Saka will not be both included and play.
Asked if Saka will be fit for the Euros, Arteta simply replied: “Yes.”
The Three Lions begin their Euros campaign against Serbia on June 16, 2024, in Gelsenkirchen.
