Buckingham Palace forced to correct awkward blunder amid Princess Beatrice announcement

Must read

Buckingham Palace has been forced to correct an awkward blunder amid Princess Beatrice’s announcement.

The Palace took to social media with two new photographs of the 36-year-old, announcing she is pregnant with her second child.

However, the accompanying statement contained a spelling error which was picked up by many royal fans.

The post read: “Her Royal Highess Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child together early in the new year; a sibling for Wolfie and Sienna.

“His Majesty The King has been informed and both families are delighted with the news.”

Fans immediately noticed the typo in the post, as it mistakenly read “highess” rather than “highness”.

One royal watcher corrected the Palace, responding: “Her Royal Highness*”.

Another quipped: “Do they not read what they wrote before they post?”

It appears the social media team behind the account noticed the error, as the post was later deleted and reposted with the correct spelling of “highness”.

Princess Beatrice is already mother to Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi, three, and stepmother to Christopher Woolf (Wolfie), eight.

Wolfie is the son of Beatrice’s husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 40, and his ex-partner, American architect Dara Huang.

The new royal baby will be 11th in line to the throne, behind older sister Sienna and mother Beatrice.

It pushes Beatrice’s younger sister, Princess Eugenie, back to 12th in the line of succession.

The new baby will be a great niece or nephew to the King, and a second cousin of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

They will also be Prince Andrew’s fourth grandchild, as Princess Eugenie has two children, August Brooksbank, three, and Ernest Brooksbank, one.

Like Beatrice’s daughter Sienna, the new royal baby will not be permitted to use an HRH title.
