Bruce Springsteen, 74, postpones two more shows under doctor’s orders ‘due to vocal issues’

Must read

Bruce Springsteen has postponed two more upcoming shows, after previously rescheduling a concert in Marseilles on Saturday.

The 74-year-old music icon — who also postponed a host of shows last year — has had to hold off on performances under doctor’s orders.

On Sunday, the longtime entertainer, who was honored at the 2024 Ivor Novello Awards this month, uploaded an Instagram post sharing that his European tour will pick back up on June 12 in Madrid.

The caption of the post read: ‘Following yesterday’s postponement in Marseille due to vocal issues, further examination and consulting has led doctors to determine that Bruce should not perform for the next ten days.’

The message continued, ‘With this in mind, additional postponements are required for Airport Letnany in Prague (originally scheduled for May 28) and San Siro Stadium in Milan (originally scheduled for June 1 and 3). New dates for these shows will be announced shortly.’

It was also noted that ‘those wishing a refund will be able to obtain it at their original point of purchase.’

Fans were assured that ‘Bruce is recuperating comfortably, and he and the E Street Band look forward to resuming their hugely successful European stadium tour on June 12 in Madrid at the magnificent Civitas Metropolitan.’

Last September the New Jersey native postponed all his remaining 2023 concerts until 2024 as he recovered from peptic ulcer disease.

He shared an Instagram post announcing all remaining tour dates for Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band would be halted on the advice of his doctor.

The post read: ‘Bruce Springsteen has continued to recover steadily from peptic ulcer disease over the past few weeks and will continue treatment through the rest of the year on doctor’s advice.

‘With this in mind, and out of an abundance of caution, all remaining 2023 tour dates for Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will be postponed until 2024.

‘Rescheduled dates for each of the 2023 shows, including those postponed earlier this month, will be announced next week, all taking place at their originally scheduled venues.’

He expressed gratitude, writing, ‘Thanks to all my friends and fans for your good wishes, encouragement, and support. I’m on the mend and can’t wait to see you all next year.’

Despite his health troubles, last week Bruce appeared in high spirits as he was presented the Academy Fellowship Award by friend Sir Paul McCartney at the Ivor Novello Awards.

He wore a black suit, shirt and tie during the ceremony, which took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

Presenting the prize, Paul joked: ‘Like Bruce’s concerts, I’m going to keep this brief,’ before adding that he ‘couldn’t think of a more fitting recipient except maybe Bob Dylan, or Paul Simon, or Billy Joel, or Beyoncé, or Taylor Swift.’

Accepting the award, Bruce hugged the former Beatle and referenced his ‘long and wonderful history’ in the UK, thanking the ‘extraordinary’ fans for supporting him.
