BRITNEY Spears has posted a new cryptic Instagram in the wake of ex-boyfriend’s Justin Timberlake’s arrest.
On Tuesday, Justin was arrested for a DWI (driving while intoxicated) after reportedly running a stop sign and “veering out of his lane” in Upstate New York.
Justin, who is married and has two children with Jessica Biel, reportedly spent Monday evening with friends at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor in the Hamptons, before leaving his friends at 12.30am.
He was pulled over in his BMW after running a stop sign, where a police officer determined he was intoxicated due to “glassy and bloodshot eyes and the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath” according to court documents.
In video footage first obtained by TMZ, Justin was spotted driving his grey 2025 BMW UT, which matches the police‘s description in their report.
The officer added “he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot and he performed poorly on all standardised field sobriety tests”.

Britney – who dated the pop star-turned-actor from 1999 to 2002 – shared a photo of a cocktail with a flower in it, alongside the cryptic message: “It’s the little things you know”.
Shortly after that, Britney posted one of her iconic dancing videos from her hotel room, gleefully showing off some new outfits including a white and neon green mini dress, and a black and cream cocktail dress.
“First cocktail dress ever !!! Playing in Vegas today and tonight too,” she wrote.
Britney disabled the comments section to prevent any speculation about what the message means, with the Lucky singer often sharing her posts with cryptic notes alongside them.
The Incident So Far
Following Justin’s arrest on Tuesday morning, the Cry Me A River singer was officially charged with one count of misdemeanour Driving While Intoxicated.
He was handcuffed and arrested at the side of the road on Main Street in Sag Harbor after allegedly refusing to take a test to show if he was over or under the legal limit of alcohol.
He was also cited for running the stop sign and veering from his own lane.
Justin’s mugshot was posted last night following his arrest, with the N-Sync and solo singer looking glassy-eyed as he stared into the camera.
According to court documents, he claimed to have had “one martini” with friends before heading home.
It was feared the pop legend could be forced to cancel some European tour dates of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour as a result of the arrest, with his July 26 court date clashing with his scheduled first performance in Krakow, Poland.
However, lawyer Edward Burke Jr. has since confirmed he will not need to appear in person for the court date.
He potentially faces up to a year behind bars if found guilty.
Justin and Britney’s relationship
Between 1999 and 2002, Justin and Britney were pop’s power couple – appearing together at events and even making fashion statements with their iconic ‘double denim’ look.
But the subsequent fallout of their relationship – including songs thinly-veiled about each other – has remained with them both ever since.
It’s widely believed Britney wrote song Everytime about their relationship, while Justin wrote Cry Me A River about her – even featuring a lookalike of his ex in the music video.
The feud was reignited last year on the release of Britney’s memoir, The Woman In Me, in which Britney made a string of allegations about their relationships.
Britney claimed she got pregnant by Justin but ultimately had an abortion after he told her he wasn’t ready to be a father.
“It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated,” she wrote.
“But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”
She heavily details her experience of the at-home abortion, claiming Justin played guitar to her as she laid slumped on the bathroom floor.
She also accused him of cheating on her during their romance.
Justin has not made any official comment on the claims made in the book by his ex, with sources telling The Sun he wanted to “block the noise” and “let his work do the talking”.
