A British woman and her fiance were discovered dead in a Vietnamese villa over Christmas.

The friends and family of Greta Marie Otteson have been left shocked after she and her fiance Arno Els Quinton, 36, were found dead in separate rooms at the Hoi An Silverbell villa in Hoi An in central Quang Nam province.

The couple, who reportedly got engaged in December, were discovered on Boxing Day by cleaning staff.

Mr Quinton, a South African working as a barista, musician and streamer, and Ms Otteson, a social media manager, had been staying together in the villa since July 4, according to local media reports.

They had reportedly been drinking wine at the villa and now authorities have said they collected empty bottles from the room which will be further tested.

Police revealed that the couple’s belongings were ‘untouched’ and there were no signs of physical injuries or trauma on the bodies.

Ms Otteson is said to have found lying in her bed lifeless in room 101 before the officers broke into Mr Quinton’s locked room where he was also discovered dead.

A spokesman for the Quang Nam Provincial Police said: ‘There were no signs of ransacking at the scene. The victims’ belongings and phones were untouched.’

An FCDO Spokesperson told Metro: ‘We are supporting the family of a British woman who has died in Vietnam and are in contact with the local authorities.’
