A British climber and his guide are missing on Mount Everest after an ice fall hit an expedition on their way down from the summit.

Daniel Paul Paterson, 40, and his guide, Pas Tenji Sherpa, 23, have not been heard from since they reached the summit at about 4.40am local time on Tuesday, according to Khim Lal Gautam, a Nepalese official at base camp. They were part of a 15-member team with 8K Expeditions, led by the Bolivian climber David Hugo Ayaviri Quispe.
