Brenda Edwards admits she once SNUBBED Taylor Swift by refusing to sit next to her at a wedding for hilarious reason

Must read

Brenda Edwards has admitted that she once snubbed Taylor Swift as she recalled the time she refused to sit with her at a family friend’s wedding.

The Loose Women panellist, 55, reflected on the moment during Friday’s show as she revealed that when she crossed paths with the American superstar she kept her distance because she was worried of ’embarrassing’ her son Jamal.

Music entrepreneur Jamal sadly passed away, aged 31, in February 2022, from a cardiac arrest after a late night cocaine and drinking session.

While Brenda did not specify whose wedding they attended, it could have been Ed Sheeran‘s 2019 nuptials with Cherry Seaborn as the TV star is close with Ed – and Taylor’s attendance was confirmed at the event

Reflecting on her moment with Taylor, Brenda began: ‘The reception time had come and we came into the room and everybody found a seat and sat down.’

She continued: ‘I thought to myself Jamal’s brought me here so I am going to sit and not say anything and keep my eyes down, which I did. Which is very out of the ordinary for me.

‘So I sat there and after about half an hour she was sat talking and I could hear the conversation but its not my conversation.

‘And then she says to me ”hi, would you like to come and sit with us?” and I said, ”no thank you” and afterwards I was like “ugh!”

‘I spoke to Jamal after and he said ”mum you should gone and spoke to her, don’t be so awkward” and I said ”I was trying not to embarrass you and say something stupid, like I normally would!”

‘But she was very lovely and she was very down to earth, and you could feel her aura about her that was so calm and pleasant.’

The Loose Women panel were discussing Taylor the day after she touched down in Scotland.

Taylor began her UK stint of her ERAs tour on Friday and fans started queuing for the star 48 hours before she arrived in Edinburgh to start her sell-out leg.

Ahead of the concert at Scottish Gas Stadium in Murrayfield, fans who missed out on tickets will be pleased to hear that there are still some available – if they are willing to pay over face value on resale sites.

Brenda recalled: '[Taylor] says to me ''hi, would you like to come and sit with us?'' and I said, ''no thank you'' and afterwards I was like "ugh!"'

Tickets are still available on resale websites, but they have been spotted going for the eye-watering sum of nearly £5,000 as fans desperately try to go last minute.

Although tickets are available to purchase on third-party resale sites, official partner AXS has warned against using them.

Ahead of the star’s arrival, companies across the country have been eagerly gearing up her performance.

Even the capital’s trams have been covered in adverts for the star’s latest album and hotel rooms have become hard to find.

Some hoteliers are charging a staggering £1,600 a night amid the shortage of rooms in the city.

The scale of Swift’s UK tour – which is also set to go to Liverpool, Cardiff and London – is said to be worth a boost to the UK economy of nearly £1billion.

A lot of that money will find itself in Edinburgh, with each fan predicted to splash out £848 on tickets, travel, accommodation, outfits and other expenses.
