BOC shuts down a “gambling” hall and four unlicensed tourism companies

The Baghdad Operations Command declared today, Thursday, the closure of four unlicensed travel and tourism businesses as well as a gambling hall in  Baghdad’s neighborhoods of Salhiya and Alawi.

“Our security units, in conjunction with detachments from (Tourism Security, the National Security Service, the Iraqi National Intelligence Service, and the Tourism Authority) continue to inspect travel and tourism offices and companies and close the unauthorized,” read an Operations Command statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The statement went on to say that “in the areas of (Salhiya, Allawi) in Karkh in  Baghdad, the operation resulted in the seizure of a hall where gambling is practiced, as well as the closure of 4 companies and non-fundamentalist travel offices and the arrest of their owners.”

The statement noted, “the detainees were turned over to the Directorate of Tourism Security.”
