Must read

The new 25,503 sq ft store is set to open on Friday, July 26, as part of B&M’s programme of store openings, expansions and relocations this summer.

While the retailer has more of a presence across retail parks, the Derbion opening will be accompanied by another shopping centre opening in Manchester’s Arndale on July 24.

B&M is also setting up shop in locations such as Kingswood near Bristol, Bordon in Hampshire and Cannock in Staffordshire in the coming weeks.

In its results for the 53 weeks to March 30, B&M raised its long-term store-opening targets from 950 to “no less than 1,200”.

Chief executive Alex Russo said the business aims to open no less than 45 gross stores in the UK in FY25, along with a number of stores for sister business Heron Foods in France.

For Derbion, the arrival of B&M follows the announcement that more than £5m is being invested in three new concept stores for JD Sports, New Look and Ann Summers, with JD set to double the size of its current store.

A spokesperson for B&M told Derbion: “We are delighted to be opening our new store in Derby and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.

“Customers can expect to find a wide variety of branded groceries for the best possible price, including a range of food, drink and pet food.

“There will also be a fantastic selection of quality health and beauty products, homewares, electricals, DIY essentials, toys, games, gifts and plenty more to explore.”

Derbion managing director Beth McDonald added: “B&M is synonymous with great value. We’re committed to offering variety to our customers and it’s fantastic to welcome B&M to our broad range of high street names, premium brands and everything in between.

“The arrival of B&M forms part of our wider evolution, designed to maximise opportunities for existing brands alongside new retailers. With further new lettings to announce soon, it’s set to be another year of growth for Derbion.”
