Hull’s North Point Shopping Centre has welcomed the arrival of one of the UK’s fastest-growing variety retailers, B&M, as its latest tenant.
B&M has opened in a large unit – formerly occupied by Wilko – at the popular centre in Bransholme. It follows other recent big name lettings at North Point, including Greggs and Bodycare.
The launch of the store has created 26 jobs for local people and will significantly boost the local economy in Bransholme, said the retailer. Before officially opening its doors, the unit was the subject of extensive internal and external refurbishments, to bring the Bransholme community the “best possible B&M experience” covering a space of 15,268sq ft.

To assist in the grand opening of the store, the B&M team were joined by the Hull Foodbank, who cut the ceremonial ribbon and welcomed the first customers through the doors.
The store manager said: “Hull Foodbank really stood out for us, so we wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank you for all the hard work that they have done. We hope that our donation can really help them to continue the great work that they do.”
North Point is a thriving retail destination and a hub of activity with spaces suitable for retail, hospitality and leisure, with major brands present including Boots, CeX, Farmfoods, Hays Travel, New Look, Max Spielmann and Shoe Zone. The arrival of B&M has been hailed by commercial asset and property management company, FI Real Estate Management.
A spokesperson for FI Real Estate Management, said: “It’s encouraging to see big brands like B&M drawn to North Point. Like our other recent new lettings, they’re attracted by the fantastic footfall figures and support which we give through the centre’s own marketing and events programme.”
B&M is a discount retailer whose history dates back to 1978. The opening of the North Point store brings the chain’s tally of outlets in the Hull area to eight.
Hull Foodbank was founded in 2011 and is run by 46 volunteers who want to end the hunger crisis, believing that no one should ever have to go hungry. It provides three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred in crisis.
