Bluey’s off to the movies with BBC and Disney-backed feature film

From Lady and the Tramp to Goofy, Disney has a long tradition of turning animated dogs into household names.

Now the canine pack is to be joined by a small blue heeler from Queensland, Australia, after the American entertainment giant announced plans to launch a big-screen version of Bluey.

The eponymous film, produced by BBC Studios and Australia’s Ludo, will launch in cinemas in 2027 before being made available via the Disney+ streaming service.

The film will continue to follow the adventures of Bluey, seven, her younger sister Bingo and their parents and offer “the same charm and humour” that has helped to propel the TV series to more than 150 episodes since its launch in 2018.
