What victim’s husband said
Speaking with reporters hours after Allu Arjun’s arrest in Hyderabad on Friday, Bhaskar, the husband of Revathi, said, “We only went to Sandhya Theatre that day because my son wanted to watch the movie. It’s not Allu Arjun’s fault that he visited the theatre that day. I am ready to withdraw my case. Police didn’t inform me of his arrest, I watched it on the news at the hospital. He (Arjun) has nothing to do with stampede.”
Incidentally, it was on the basis of Bhaskar’s complaint that Allu Arjun was arrested. On Friday morning, officials from Hyderabad Police came to Allu Arjun’s residence in Jubilee Hills and took him into custody. He was shifted to the police station, where he would be questioned, the police said. The actor was later taken to Osmania General Hospital for medical examination before being produced in the court.
Why was Allu Arjun arrested
On the night of December 4, a large crowd of fans thronged the Sandhya Theatre at the busy RTC Crossroads to glimpse the actor, who had reached there to watch his film, Pushpa 2: The Rule. A stampede-like situation arose and one woman died, while her son was hospitalised in critical condition.
Police said a case was registered against the actor, his security team, and the theatre management at the Chikkadpally police station under sections 105 and 118(1) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on the complaint by the deceased’s family. Allu Arjun has moved the High Court to quash the FIR and the court will hear his plea later on Friday.
