After all the news and speculation throughout the day, a new WWE signing has now officially been confirmed.
Shawn Michaels, who runs the NXT brand and system, tweeted:
Welcome to the WWE Family, @Steph_Vaquer. See you in Orlando!
A statement was issued earlier today that Stephanie Vaquer was departing CMLL and had been stripped of her championships.
A few days prior, it was reported that Vaquer had received contract offers from both WWE and AEW.
Throughout the course of today, it was becoming increasingly clear that she was headed to WWE, and Michaels’ tweet now confirms that.
Vaquer recently performed at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view in a match against Mercedes Mone.
We’ll keep you posted with any further updates, but it looks likely that she’ll be starting in NXT.
Fightful reported earlier that Vaquer was actually present at NXT Heatwave in Toronto this past Sunday.
PWInsider reports she signed with WWE “within the last week”.
