Beware of AI Voice Scams Targeting Gmail Users – News Karnataka

Must read

Cybercriminals are now using advanced AI-generated voice scams to take over Gmail accounts, a service with over 2.5 billion users worldwide. These super-realistic AI calls mimic Google support, fooling even tech-savvy individuals.

Sam Mitrovic, a security expert, recently shared how he was tricked by a scam involving a fake Gmail recovery email followed by a call from a seemingly legitimate Google Sydney number. The scam, using a combination of spoofed emails, AI-powered voice bots, and legitimate-looking phone numbers, aims to trick users into sharing their Gmail credentials.

Mitrovic discovered the scam through online communities, confirming that such sophisticated methods make it easy for hackers to pose as Google support.

Key tips to avoid falling victim:

  • Google rarely calls for account issues. Always verify suspicious calls.
  • Check your Gmail activity regularly for unauthorized logins.
  • Enable two-factor authentication and change your passwords frequently.

In today’s digital age, staying vigilant is crucial to keeping your accounts secure from increasingly sophisticated AI-driven scams.
