Rumors about Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez splitting up have been dominating headlines for literal months, but J.Lo finally pulled the trigger and filed for divorce on August 20 after just two years of marriage.
So, why’d she decide to take the plunge? A source tells People that there are various reasons the multi-hyphenate felt it was “time to move on.” And one of them is Ben’s lack of “interest” in making their marriage work.
“She’s very disappointed and sad, but Ben hasn’t given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage,” the source says. “He hasn’t shown any commitment and interest in making their marriage work. It’s gotten to the point that she just needs to look out for herself.”
Jen filed for divorce on the two-year anniversary of her and Ben’s giant Georgia wedding, and listed their official date of separation as April 26, 2024. She was actually photographed in New York City that day—ahead of the Met Gala which she attended solo (one of the first public indications that something was amiss with her and Ben).
While J.Lo was spotted at Ben’s house on his birthday a few days ago on August 15, TMZ reports that the former couple haven’t always been on speaking terms as they try to work out the details of their divorce.
