BBC‘s The One Show was plunged into chaos as Stacey Dooley rushed off set during Thursday’s live show.

The documentary-maker, 37, had to hurry off from the interview to head to her West End performance in 2:22 A Ghost Story, 40 minutes after.

The Strictly Come Dancing star chatted to hosts Roman Kemp and Alex Jones all about her new role in the show as Jenny as well as her new podcast Famously…On Trial.

But during her conversation, Roman had to interject as he was being told she had to leave the interview to travel on a motorbike to the theatre in such short time.

Under pressure, Roman said: ‘We can’t actually keep you long. In fact I’m being told right now you’re on stage in about 40 minutes and you’ve got a motorbike.’

‘How showbiz Roman!’, Stacey laughed.

Roman joked: ‘Well, actually we need to get this on you [brings out motorbike helmet]’

Stacey added: ‘It’s been so lovely to meet you, thank you so much. Right! See ya, gang’, before she rushed off set.

‘Break a leg!’, Alex Jones quipped.

Stacey became the latest famous face to join the West End production of Danny Robins’ smash-hit play, having made her debut at the Gielgud Theatre on June 2.

The TV star plays Jenny, a new mother who is convinced that someone is haunting her home at the same time every night.

Stacey is joined in the production by former Inbetweeners star James Buckley, who plays Ben.

In the story, Ben is the partner of Jenny’s friend Lauren, who she has invited over for a dinner party.

She convinces them to stay until 2:22 in the morning to decipher whether there is a ghost.

While Ben believes there could be, her own partner Sam does not believe in anything supernatural.

Lauren provides the comic relief to the piece and in in taking on the role, 90s TV presenter Donna Air looked full of glee as her character held two glasses of wine.

The part has previously been played by the likes of Sophia Bush and Ruby Rose.

The show has a history of casting well-known faces into its four roles, with Girls Aloud singer Cheryl, Smile hitmaker Lily Allen and former Love Island host Laura Whitmore all having taken on the role of Jenny before.

Stacey excitedly said: ‘Delighted to be involved in the next adaptation of 2:22! Made up! I fell for the play when I went to watch it in 2022.

‘All 4 characters feel so familiar, which means the subtle ‘ghost story’ just works so brilliantly. Can’t wait to bring Jenny back to life! Let’s go!’
