BBC The Jetty came to a dramatic end tonight after it was revealed that Jenna Coleman’s character Ember Manning was responsible for what happened to Amy (Bo Bragason) as she was under the influence at the time of the accident.
However, Ember was not responsible for the death of Riz, with Arj – who thought he had killed Amy – was the one who committed the crime and decided that he needed to take out the podcaster once he realised that they were a little bit too close to the truth.
All of that inevitably set the stage for an incredibly difficult decision for Ember, leading her to lie and indicate that Arj was responsible for everything that had taken place.
As the series came to an end, it left Ember to carry the truth with her about what really transpired with Amy so many years ago and having the determination that in going to prison, she would have to abandon her daughter.
The synopsis for the last episode read: “Ember is forced to confess to her family that human bone fragments were found in the boat hut, but Hannah can’t believe her dad was responsible and pleads with Ember to look further.
“When a new development propels Ember into dangerous territory, the truth is finally revealed, and it proves far more shocking than she ever expected.”

Coleman’s acting left many viewers stunned with the series, however, others thought the ending fell flat and felt they had wasted four hours of their time in watching the series.
Taking to their X accounts, one infuriated viewer exclaimed: “Don’t understand any of it! #theJetty.”
“4 hours of my life I’ll never get back, absolutely dire,” another added before a third penned: “Another 4-hour drama of red herrings and misleading mumbling which could have been done in a 1 hour program.”
Someone else noted: “I feel like I’ve taken a long walk off a short pier.”
Fans of the show have continuously complained over the sound issues

A fifth commented: “People comparing #TheJetty favourably to #HappyValley are bonkers. It’s ok, better than many 4 part dramas, but absolutely not a patch on Happy Valley.”
Not all were left underwhelmed, as one viewer praised: “Such an emotional ending #TheJetty need a second series!!”
Another said: “Wow, that ending was some twist. Would never have expected that. Can’t believe she lied though.” (sic)
The series has been plagued with complaints from its viewers, with many having an issue with the blunders they have experienced across the four episodes.
