Nick Knowles has been given the green light to continue competing on Strictly Come Dancing.

The DIY SOS star, 62, is one of the stars appearing on this season of the long-running BBC series, in which he’s been paired with professional dancer Luba Mushtuk.

However, he was forced to miss out on last week’s live show after damaging his knee.

Although it was uncertain earlier this week whether he would recover in time to appear on the show this weekend, the BBC has now shared he’s got the all-clear.

‘We are all delighted that Nick Knowles and Luba Mushtuk will be dancing in this Saturday’s show,’ a BBC spokesperson has said.

‘Nick has been cleared to dance by the medical and physio teams following his injury last week.

‘Due to time taken out of training this week, they will be performing their Movies Week Charleston to Rain On The Roof from Paddington 2.’

The update was also shared on tonight’s episode of It Takes Two, with host Fleur East sharing the news.

Nick also appeared on the Strictly spin-off series earlier this week, sharing an update on what happened after suffering his injury.

‘We had a great week learning the dance and we were doing the camera tech rehearsals where the cameras get to see how the dance works and everything,’ he said.

‘Very last step of the dance, I was late getting to where I should and leapt to the position and my one leg stayed still and the rest of me went through.

‘A bit of a collapse and realised it wasn’t in a good condition. I hurt my knee basically.’

‘The dance was amazing!’ Luba chimed in with.

He continued: ‘Each day gets a little bit better.  On Friday, it looked pretty bad to be honest, it felt bad. Saturday was not so good but I got a scan and had a look at that we decided to wait until Monday so we could have a look at that.

‘Monday was a little bit stronger and today I got to see the physios and with a lot of rehab from physios and doctors, they have given me clearance to try and dance tomorrow to train.

‘If I train tomorrow, that’s not necessarily be the end of it.’

He added: ‘We will see how I do tomorrow and that is all we can say at the moment.’

Luba, 34, said it was a ‘big day to have the clearance to rehearsal tomorrow’.

‘Tomorrow we will try, and we will go gentle and see what we can do and what we can’t and then adjust it.’

She said they were planning to take it ‘step-by-step and see what is comfortable’.

Following an arm injury the week before, when Nick was put in a sling, he told It Takes Two host Janette Manrara that he was ‘getting sick and tired’ of his injuries.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.20pm on BBC One.
