BBC confirms “no plans” for Strictly star-fronted show to return

The BBC has confirmed two shows hosted by Strictly star Angela Scanlon will not return.

The RTÉ presenter and television host appeared on the 21st of Strictly Come Dancing, reaching sixth place alongside partner Carlos Gu.

Outside of the show, she’s hosted interior design show Your Home Made Perfect since it began in 2019.

In the show, virtual reality and technology were used to show guests what their dream homes would look like before construction even began, with homeowners being able to choose one of the architect’s designs for their own house.

Angela also hosted spin-off series Your Garden Made Perfect which began in 2021, but BBC bosses have confirmed that there are “no plans” for new seasons of either show.

“At present there are no plans for another series of either programme,” a spokesperson told Metro.

It comes after Angela landed a new presenting role at Virgin Radio UK as a weekend breakfast presenter.

Sharing her excitement, she said: “I know how many of you have dreamt about waking up to my husky dulcet tones, well dreams come true gang.

“I’ll be getting up with you every weekend on Virgin Radio and I am inappropriately excited. Stick the kettle on!”

She is joined by children’s TV legends Dick and Dom, who said in a joint statement: “We’re back on the weekends! As genuine long-term listeners and lovers of Virgin Radio we’re over the moon to be joining the team.

“We both started our journeys in local radio so it’s great to be back behind the mic. Nice to have upgraded from a bungalow to studios at the top of the tower.”

Strictly Come Dancing will return later this year on BBC One, while spin-off Strictly: It Takes Two airs on weeknights on BBC Two. Both shows are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

Tickets for Strictly Come Dancing: The Professionals live tour are available now.
