The BBC has confirmed that a celebrity season of The Traitors is on the way.

Reports emerged earlier this year that a spin-off featuring famous faces was in the works, with a 2025 filming date likely.

The broadcaster officially announced at the Edinburgh TV Festival today (August 22) that it has commissioned a nine-part celebrity season, and confirmed that a fourth season of the main show has been greenlit too.

The upcoming third season of the show recently finished filming, with the fourth and celebrity seasons set to begin production next year.

Details on which celebrities will take part remain under wraps for now – so keep your eyes peeled.

On top of that, the BBC has confirmed that companion podcast The Traitors: Uncloaked hosted by Ed Gamble will return for the show’s third season.

The Traitors has well and truly established itself as an unmissable highlight of the year and the news of a fourth outing, alongside a brand new celebrity version coming to the BBC, will take the series to a whole new level,” said the BBC’s head of entertainment Kalpna Patel-Knight.

“It will once again be fascinating for our audiences to see who’ll outwit, outplay, and outlast. Let the mind games begin!”

Studio Lambert unscripted creative director and Traitors executive producer Mike Cotton added: “We are thrilled to be inviting some celebrities into our castle to come and play the game.

“Seeing famous faces navigate the round table or don the infamous green cloaks will be unmissable TV, and what a double treat for the fans with Series 4 also confirmed too.

“There’s a whole lot of exciting treachery and deception yet to come from the Highlands… Claudia’s going to have to pack some extra knitwear.”

The Traitors series 1-2 are streaming on BBC iPlayer.
