BBC apologises to Amanda Abbington after Strictly bullying row

The BBC has apologised to Amanda Abbington after concluding an investigation into her claims of bullying on Strictly Come Dancing.

The corporation upheld some but not all of her complaints, clearing the dancer Giovanni Pernice of the most serious allegations.

The findings of a long-awaited internal investigation into alleged misconduct by Pernice were made public on Monday after Abbington, an actress, complained about her dance partner earlier this year.

The report is understood to have cleared Pernice of any form of aggressive or physical misconduct.

Six of the 17 allegations against him were upheld, four of which related to “belittling” language, including swearing, that was used to express frustration during intense training sessions.
