Barry Keoghan has taken to social media to release a statement following rumours that he and Sabrina Carpenter have called time on their relationship after a year together.
ICYMI (how!?), last week it was revealed that the Saltburn star and Espresso singer are apparently taking time apart from their romance. Since then, the internet has been awash with rumours about why the pair have called things off, with fans taking to the likes of TikTok to share their theories.
In response, Barry has deleted his Instagram account and posted on X (formerly Twitter) about the impact all of this has had. “I can only sit and take so much,” the statement began. “My name has been dragged across the internet in ways I usually don’t respond to.”
He continued: “I have to respond now because it’s gettin [sic] to a place where there are too many lines being crossed. I deactivated my account because I can no longer let this stuff distract from my family and my work. The messages I have received no person should ever have to read them. Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent and every other inhumane thing you can imagine.”
“Dragging my character and everything I worked extremely hard for and stand for,” the actor went on. “Talking about how I was a heroine baby and how I grew up and dragging my dear mother into it also. Knocking on my grannie’s door. Sitting outside my baby boy’s house intimidating them. That’s crossing a line.”
“Each and every day I work harder to push myself on every level to be the healthiest and strongest person for that boy,” Barry continued, referencing the son he shares with ex Alyson Sandro. “I want to provide opportunities for him to learn, fail and grow. I want him to be able to look up to his daddy, to have full trust in me and know I will have his back no matter what. I need you to remember he has to read ALL of this about his father when he is older.”
Barry signed off his statement with: “Please be respectful to all. Thank u [sic] x.”
Sabrina is yet to comment on the alleged break-up, but according to a source who spoke to People, “they are both young and career-focused, so they’ve decided to take a break.”
