Barcelona starlet misses first pre-season training session due to fitness issue

Must read

Barcelona’s injury woes seem to be carrying over from last season into the new one, as Hansi Flick begins pre-season training with many of his star players recovering from injuries.

Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, Ronald Araujo, and Gavi are the notable exclusions, but another player has been unable to start pre-season training alongside his teammates: Hector Fort, reports SPORT.

Barcelona treading carefully with Fort

Fort suffered a minor injury to his quadriceps in Barcelona Atletic’s last game of the season against Cordoba just over two weeks ago.

From then on, the player began his vacation without any negative sensations. In fact, he has been able to continue with his training plan without any issues.

However, the Catalan giants wish to proceed with caution and aim to have Fort back to full fitness before reintroducing him to competitive action on the field.

Given Barcelona’s unfortunate history with injuries and their tendency to rush players back into action, the club is determined to avoid any setbacks with Fort’s recovery.

The young full-back has undergone several medical tests in the last few hours, confirming that he is nearly ready to join his teammates next week.

For now, Barcelona are cautiously examining the affected area to avoid rushing his return to training, especially since there are other tasks he can perform. Additionally, the initial training sessions will be light in load.

The 17-year-old enjoyed a rapid ascent to the first team last season, producing some excellent exhibitions on the left and right flank.

Despite garnering a great deal of interest, Fort is eager to prove himself at Barcelona and win over Flick’s trust.

Fort signed a new contract with Barcelona not long ago and will be eager to make a swift recovery and start training under the new manager.
