Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 boasts some of the best written characters in RPG history, if not video game history. However, with a cast that’s open to return, and a massive world to explore, there’s always space for a return, even if Larian is moving onto a brand-new project.
Devora Wild, the actress behind the lovable Baldur’s Gate 3 Githyanki with an attitude, explains that she’s craving a return to the role. Even after four years of playing the character, Wild wants to continue the role as there’s “still a lot to tell”.
Baldur’s Gate could do so much more with Lae’Zel
Speaking to Italian news outlet Spazio Games, Devora Wild revealed that she fell in love with Lae’Zel as she was a “perfectly written” character. While Neil Newbon improvised Astarion’s best moment in the game, Wild explains that she never had a need to do that with Lae’Zel.
“Many people ask me if I added something of my own or if there were some moments in which we improvised during the acting, but the truth is that there was no need,” the actress explained.
Wild explained that the character spoke to her due to the attitude, brashness and honesty she displays. Lae’Zel taught the actress that “that as a woman, sometimes it’s okay to be a b*tch”.
In the interview, Wild explained that she misses “everything about her” now that she’s been away from the role for a year. However, just like her cast mates, she would jump at the opportunity to play the character one more time.
“I think Lae’Zel as a character still has a lot to tell,” Wild said. “I’d be very curious to know her story before the game. We have some small dialogue that explains some details but, in general, we don’t know much.”
The actress said that “compared to other characters”, Lae’Zel’s backstory is barely explored.
“There are things that I don’t even know about her that remain a mystery that I would really like to investigate,” the actress said.
