Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has given the green light on a deal which would see Jaden Philogene return to Villa Park from Hull City – less than 12 months after selling the winger
Jaden Philogene is set to re-join Aston Villa next week.
The club’s former Academy graduate has been called back into Villa Park by Unai Emery. The 22-year-old, who joined Hull City from Villa less than 12 months ago, is the subject of a buy-back after Villa and Ipswich Town met the £18m fee.
Emery had three days to decide whether to bring back the former England Under-21 international after the Tractor Boys chose to trigger his release clause. And, after closely reviewing the exciting winger’s performances for the Tigers last term, Emery has acted.
Philogene had flown out to Turkey to be part of Hull’s pre-season at their base near Istanbul.
But it appears he will be making a swift U-turn over the weekend and is expected at Villa’s Bodymoor Heath training centre next week.
The Londoner scored 12 goals during Hull’s campaign in the Championship and caught the eye as Liam Rosenior’s side narrowly missed out on the play-offs.
Emery has enjoyed a busy summer as Villa managed to wheel and deal their way free of any financial sanctions.
The Spaniard has added to his squad with Ian Maatsen, Samuel Iling-Junior, Lewis Dobbin, Enzo Barrrenechea and Ross Barkley all joining the claret and blue ranks ahead of the club’s first Champions League campaign.
