Tills at supermarket giant Asda are down this morning after the supermarket was hit with a technical issue.
Fuming customers have been left waiting without groceries as stores across the country were forced to open later than usual amid a problem with checkouts.
Many reported returning home without any shopping after the issue caused all tills in some branches to stop working.
One shopper said: ‘Just got back from my usual Monday morning trip to Asda – soaked to the skin, and with no shopping.

‘Their useless new till system that has never worked properly at my local branch is down and the store cannot open. It’ll be fun if it’s a nationwide problem!’
A second added: ‘Morning all. Happy Monday. So. It seems Asda are having g a Till melt down yet again.
‘To the extent of having to close store in my local area.’
Other shoppers reported problems with some other supermarkets being closed, including Morrisons and Tesco, but it is not thought these are affected by the same issue.
Customers claimed they had been ‘turned away’ from Asda stores despite the poor weather and left in the rain empty-handed.
Asda said the issue, which prevented staff from taking payments, has now been resolved.
Replying to frustrated shoppers on X, formerly Twitter, a spokesperson for Asda said: ‘Some of our stores opened later than planned this morning due to a technical issue affecting checkouts.
‘This has now been resolved and we apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused.’
