Shoppers at Asda, Iceland and Sainsbury’s are being told to check their cupboards for several ‘high risk’ items which must be returned for a full refund.
The three supermarkets have issued recall notices for two foods: crisps and rice bags.
Asda and Sainsbury’s have issued recalls for upmarket versions of its salt and vinegar crisps, one batch of which have accidentally been filled with cheese and onion.
This is described as ‘high risk’ by the Food Standards Agency because of the presence of undeclared dairy and the effect this may have on someone with a dairy allergy.
The recall for Asda affects its Extra Special Sea Salt & Chardonnay Wine Vinegar Hand Cooked Crisps in 150g bag size, with best before dates of September 21, 2024.
The FSA said: “f you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, do not eat it. Instead, return the product to the nearest Asda store for a refund, with or without a receipt”
Sainsbury’s has also recalled what looks to be the same product under its own range, Taste the Difference Sea Salt and Suffolk Cider Vinegar, with a best before of October 26, 2024.
The FSA said: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, do not eat it. Instead, return the product to the nearest Sainsbury’s store for a refund, with or without a receipt.”
And Iceland has issued a recall over its 4 Golden Savoury Rice Steam Bags because they may contain ‘crustaceans, fish, milk and molluscs that are not mentioned on the label’.
It affects pack size 600g with the best before 16 November 2025.
The FSA adds: “If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to any Iceland store for a full refund.”
