Arsenal news and transfers LIVE – Guimaraes offer, Tierney blow, Gallagher bid

Must read

Hello and welcome to the football.london daily Arsenal blog. With the summer transfer now open for nearly a week, Arsenal’s transfer business is expected to gather pace over the coming weeks.

The Gunners have plenty of work to do before kicking off the new season against Wolves. A new midfielder and striker have been prioritised but no move has yet happened.

Bruno Guimaraes and Martin Zubimendi have been presented as possible reinforcements in the middle of the park, though both do contain hefty release clauses in their release clauses. Conor Gallagher has emerged as a new name alongside long-standing links to Amadou Onana as well.

In attack, Mikel Arteta is said to want a new centre-forward to improve his team’s chances of winning the Premier League. However, every other club seems to be in the market for a new No.9 meaning the club are acting cautious on any deals.

Elsewhere, the north Londoners continue to be linked with several other players including highly-rated French star Desire Doue. Manchester United have also been credited with an interest, with Erik ten Hag’s side also strongly linked with striker Joshua Zirkzee who is said to be on Arsenal’s radar.

Benjamin Sesko is off the cards for now but Victor Osimhen is a name very much on it.. We’ll have the latest on all of this and more ahead of yet another big day of Euro 2024 action.

So, with that being said, stay with us at football.london as we bring you all the latest Arsenal news and transfer gossip live.

Diomande price

Sporting CP are willing to drop their valuation of in-demand centre-back Ousmane Diomande, reports state.

The Ivorian defender has a mammoth £72million release clause that has so far put teams off making a serious approach.

However, with the need to sell this summer it is claimed that they will be open to talks for just £42million.

Despite interest from Chelsea, Arsenal are also said to be his favoured destination.

Sporting have found a replacement for Diomande too. This could have an impact on any move for Guehi.

Kounde choice

We must have missed this inital report, but it is said that Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their attempts to land Barcelona defender Jules Kounde.

He hasn’t been a big name linked with the club this summer but last week it was said that Arsenal had offered two players to Barcelona (Eddie Nketiah and Thomas Partey) in the hopes of getting Kounde in exchange.

However, Manchester United have yet again entered the frame as they seek a new defensive option.

It’s said that Kounde still has a chance of leaving Barca in the coming months with sales needed to balance the books and to get their own transfer plans underway. A ‘substantial bid’ is going to be needed though, with United being quoted over £50million.

Zubimendi frustration

This was the case a few weeks ago but it is said that Arsenal are growing frustrated at a lack of movement from Martin Zubimendi.

The Gunners have allegedly sent a wage proposal to the midfielder but are not getting much response from the player, who is currently away with Spain at Euro 2024.

football.london understands that interest in Zubimendi has reduced in recent times despite what is seen as an affordable £52million release clause.

It is suggested that the Zubimendi struggles are playing a part in growing Guimaraes interest again.

Guehi move

Arsenal are ready to ‘test the resolve’ of Crystal Palace over Marc Guehi this summer.

Reports claim that Arsenal are still in the mix to sign the England defender after Euro 2024 and will battle Newcastle and other top Premier League sides for the player.

Palace want over £50million for the 23-year-old though, with suggestions that it could take as much as £65million to get him.

Guehi is also said to be ‘open to leaving’ if the right offer comes in.

Marc Guehi of England and Crystal Palace is attracting interest from Liverpool.

Pedro Neto move

Wolves could sell Pedro Neto this summer in a bid to raise funds, according to reports.

The winger impressed for Portugal during a brief stint off the bench on Tuesday and has been a long-time target for Arsenal.

It is now said that some at Wolves believe a deal of around £60million could be completed in the coming weeks.

Certainly one to watch.

Arsenal move away from Williams

Arsenal have pulled out of the race to sign Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams.

Reports say that the club are no longer pursuing Williams, with the 21-year-old wishing to join Barcelona instead.

Arteta and Arsenal are described as having turned their attentions elsewhere already, with Williams’ extortionate wage demands always being a stumbling block.

Zirkzee blow

Manchester United have moved into the lead in the race to sign Joshua Zirkzee, reports suggest.

It is said that the Red Devils are now ahead of Arsenal in the battle to get the player this summer and have upped their intentions.

AC Milan remain interested and Arsenal could yet come back with their own improved stance. For now though, it’s another forward that may just evade the Gunners.

Biereth plan

Sturm Graz director Andreas Schicker has confirmed he’s in talks with Arsenal over a permanent deal for Mika Biereth.

Biereth spent the second half of last season on loan at the Austrian club as they won the league title, scoring five times in 15 appearances.

Making clear Sturm Graz want the 21-year-old back on a permanent basis, Schicker told Kronen Zeitung: “I’m in talks with Arsenal. I’ve spoken to Mika, he’s always felt comfortable with us.”

Hvaertz helps Germany to victory

Kai Havertz and Germany all-but confirmed their spot in the Euro 2024 knockout stages earlier today with a 2-0 win over Hungary.

Goals from Jamal Musiala and Ilkay Gundogan mean the hosts have won two from two games. Havertz was not on the scoresheet today but did well once again.

Isak contract offer

Newcastle are closing in on securing the future of Alexander Isak with a new contract.

According to HITC, the Magpies are making progress on talks over a new deal for the striker following months of speculation linking him with a move elsewhere.

Isak was linked with a move to Arsenal earlier in the summer but the Gunners seem to be plotting a move elsewhere.

Kiwior exit

Italian outlet Calciomercato are reporting that Milan have made contact with the agen of Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior over a possible summer transfer.

The defender is currently on international duty with Poland for Euro 2024, but ended the season as first choice under Mikel Arteta, meaning Arsenal could resist any potential sale in the summer.

Bruno Guimaraes back on radar

Bruno Guimaraes’ name is once again being linked with Arsenal.

Football Transfers claim that a player plus cash deal could potentially pursuade Newcastle to sell their start man this summer. He is said to have a £100 million release clause in his contract.

Names potentially included in a swap mentioned are Oleksandr Zinchenko, Emile Smith Rowe, Albert Sami Lokonga, Eddie Nketiah and Thomas Partey.

Player-plus-cash offer

Now, according to reports, Arsenal are planning to offer a ‘player-plus-cash’ offer for Bruno Guimarses.

Football Transfers claim that the Gunners are plotting a move for Guimaraes but do not intend to trigger his release clause. The report adds that Newcastle ‘might be open to such an arrangement given their necessity to balance the books and not get stung by Premier League Profit and Sustainability rules.’

Conor Gallagher interest

Now then, is this a move we could see?

According to AS, Arsenal have placed Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher on their radar this summer. The Blues star is expected to leave the club due to their FFP concerns as he would count as pure profit.

Man United, Tottenham and Aston Villa have also been credited with interest.
