Armie Hammer Books Acting Return With Western ‘Frontier Crucible’

Must read

EXCLUSIVE: Armie Hammer, who hasn’t acted in more than three years following 2021 sexual assault allegations, is set to return to a film set with western Frontier Crucible.

This is the project we revealed yesterday, starring Thomas Jane (The Predator) and produced by Bone Tomahawk and Dragged Across Concrete producer Dallas Sonnier. Filming is due to get underway on the independently-financed film next month in Monument Valley and Prescott, Arizona.

Hammer’s A-list Hollywood career was derailed back in 2021 when multiple women came forward with claims of abuse against him. Hammer denied the allegations but had to abandon several projects and was dropped by his talent agency and publicist. After an investigation into Hammer by the LA County District Attorney and LAPD, they declined to pursue criminal charges against him, citing insufficient evidence. He remains without representation other than his lawyer.

On Monday, The Social Network, Lone Ranger and Call Me By Your Name actor launched a podcast, The Armie HammerTime Podcast, in a video post on Instagram. The first episode includes an interview with actor Tom Arnold.

Hammer will play one of the “key roles” in Frontier Crucible. Also starring will be Myles Clohessy (The Pendragon Cycle), Eli Brown (Run Hide Fight), Eddie Spears (Yellowstone) and Zane Holtz (Hunter Killer), singer/songwriter Jonah Kagen and Australian newcomer Mary Stickley.

Hammer this morning posted an image on instagram of him with the film’s script.

Pitched by Sonnier as Reservoir Dogs meets Bone Tomahawk, and set in the Arizona Territory of the 1870s, the film will follow a former soldier (Clohessy) with a tragic past who is thrown into an uneasy alliance with three outlaws (Jane, Hammer and Kagen), a beautiful woman (Stickley), and her wounded husband (Brown), in an attempt to survive the elements and hostiles of the western frontier.

Sonnier’s outfit Bonfire Legend is behind the film which will be directed by Travis Mills (The Pendragon Cycle) and adapted from the 1961 western novel Desert Stake-Out by Harry Whittington. Maxime Alexandre (Shazam!) will be the cinematographer.

David Guglielmo (The Last Stop In Yuma County) and Lillian Campbell (Love Bomb) are producing with Mills. Dallas Sonnier (Bone Tomahawk) and Amanda Presmyk (Run Hide Fight) are executive-producing for Bonfire Legend alongside Jane and his producing partner Courtney Lauren Penn for Renegade Entertainment, and Sefton Fincham (Dragged Across Concrete).

Preston Poulter (The Standoff At Sparrow Creek) is executive-producing and financing the picture with Bonfire Legend. Guglielmo is also handling casting. Savannah, Georgia, native Kagen will also provide original songs and score for the movie.

Hammer is represented by attorney Todd Rubenstein at Yorn Levin
