Ariana Grande fans point out NSFW error on Mattel’s Wicked doll packaging – as collection risks mass recall

A shocking packaging error on Ariana Grande‘s new ‘Wicked’ doll shares a URL to an adult content website instead of the movie’s official page.

Mattel released a Singing Glinda doll ahead of Universal Pictures’ Wicked movie’s November 22 release

But those excited to see Grande starring as the ‘Good Witch’ have noticed the doll’s box features a dreadful mistake completely inappropriate for children.

Instead of the movie’s official site ‘wickedmovie.com’, the box shares a link to ‘wicked.com’ – a pornographic website.

‘The official Mattel Wicked dolls link to a porn site on the box,’ someone posted on X with two crying emojis.

Based on eBay sales and social media reactions, this was not just a one-time error.

‘This may be the worst mistake in official merchandise history,’ one X user declared.

By missing just one word from the website, Mattel has triggered an influx of outrage, with many people concerned about kids unknowingly searching for the URL.

‘Whoever did this needs to be fired immediately cuz why would they do that knowing that it’s mostly kids buying these dolls,’ someone said on X.

Another said: ‘It’s so weird knowing that it’s a kid’s toy.’

Others were simply baffled by how such an error could make its way all the way to production.

‘IS THIS FOR REAL?’ someone asked.

The Glinda doll is priced anywhere from $24.99 to about $40 in stores including Target and Macy’s.

‘Mattel was made aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked collection dolls, primarily sold in the U.S., which intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMove.com landing page,’ Mattel told the DailyMail.com in a statement.

‘We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this.

‘Parents are advised that the misprinted, incorrect website is not appropriate for children.

‘Consumers who already have the product are advised to discard the product packaging or obscure the link and may contact Mattel Customer Service for further information.’

But on eBay, some of the dolls in the faulted boxes are listed between $175 to nearly $500.

Other pieces of Wicked merchandise have been unaffected by this mishap, with the LEGO set having the correct website listed, one social media user reported.

There are several kinds of Wicked-themed dolls for sale, but the mistake has only been caught on Glinda’s doll.

DailyMail.com has reached out to Universal Pictures for comment.

The highly anticipated film is based on the 1995 book by Gregory Maguire that was later turned into a three-time Tony Award-winning Broadway musical in 2003.

Directed by Jon M. Chu with an eye-popping budget of $145 million, Wicked is split into two feature-length films, with the final chapter slated for November 2025.

Critics are already calling Wicked: Part One a ‘masterpiece’ that ‘pops and enchants on the big screen’ as audiences are welcomed to the fantastical world of Oz.

The film’s leads Grande and Cynthia Erivo, who play witches Glinda and Elphaba, respectively, are receiving high praise for their jaw-dropping vocals and onscreen chemistry.

Film and TV journalist Scott Menzel boldly called it the ‘very best big screen adaptations of a Broadway musical ever.’
