On a Twitch stream with the vice-presidential nominee Tim Walz, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez responds to Tony Hinchcliffe’s jibe calling Puerto Rico an ‘island of trash’. The lawmaker, who is of Puerto Rican origin, called the remarks ‘super upsetting’. Hinchcliffe spoke at a rally held by the Trump campaign in New York’s Madison Square Garden where he also made racist jokes about Latinos. The event had drawn comparisons to an infamous Nazi rally held at the arena in 1939. Speaking to reporters in Maryland, Kamala Harris reiterated her support for Puerto Ricans, and recalled Trump’s response to Hurricane Maria, which was widely criticised
