Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly caused a sensation among holidaying Brits on Wednesday when they were seen splashing about at a budget family resort in Majorca.

The sudden appearance of the TV presenting duo, both 48, in beach wear at the Protur Bonaire Hotel in Cala Bona saw excitement spread like wildfire among guests.

Dozens of people surged to the pool area to check out the unexpected celebrity cameo – with many amazed that the multi-millionaire pair would choose to book into the relatively affordable resort.

But while it wasn’t a stunt for the The Saturday Night Takeaway show, as some suspected, it soon turned out there was an explanation.

In fact the pair were shooting a TV commercial for TUI holidays which is a mainstay user of the Protur Bonaire.

Ant and Dec spent several hours doing shoots around the sprawling holiday resort in the east of the island.

Such was commotion caused by their arrival, that guests had to be warned that the TV personalities would not have time to pose for individual photographs.

But Ant and Dec made a point of waving at the families who had gathered around the pool to greet them and handed out high-fives to children who had come over to see them.

Holiday-maker Samantha McAdams witnessed the spectacle and told MailOnline: ‘Everyone was very excited to see them. They came on a transfer coach from Palma airport to the hotel.

‘We first saw them about lunch time. We were sitting by the pool and they came past at about 1.30pm.

‘Soon enough, everyone got wind and started to wait outside the apartment to see them. Eventually it turned out they were shooting an advert for TUI.

‘They waved at everyone at the pool and they went into a private apartment to do some filming.

‘Members of the production staff told us they wouldn’t have time to do individual photos with everyone, but when they came outside they waved at everyone and high-fived all the children.’

Sam, 39, gushed: ‘They were brilliant, exactly how you see them on the TV. They spoke to each of the children and they smiled the entire day.’

The fashion retail manager from Belfast is on holiday with her banker husband David McAdams, 37, and their two children Cohen, six, and Summer, five.

She continued: ‘After they came out of the apartment they got in a golf buggy and drove around the resort with a few guests and asked them what they liked about the hotel, what food they liked, etc.

‘They stayed until about 4pm and then they left. They must have been exhausted.’
