Ant McPartlin has admitted to getting frustrated on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and acting unprofessionally.

During last night’s episode, Dean McCullough faced yet another bushtucker trial as the public once again voted for him to tackle it.

Before taking on Lethal Labs, Dean, 32, was subject to some stern words from self-described ‘bad cop’ Ant, while ‘good cop’ Declan Donnelly stayed more neutral.

Ant encouraged him to get the task done after bringing back two and zero stars in previous challenges.

When proceedings got underway at the ‘jungle’s scientific research facility’, the Radio 1 host had two minutes to complete an experiment which was worth two stars. He had to combine liquids while wearing gloves filled with green acts.

After successfully carrying it out, he moved on to the containment areas, where a further eight stars were available. Dean was required to put his head into glass boxes, where he was joined by creatures from snakes to cockroaches. About midway through the trial, Dean shouted the title of the show and ended the trial with four stars.

It was fish guts being thrown into his box that finally pushed Dean over the edge. Although, he admitted that if he’d have known it was fish guts then he may have tried to continue. Dean’s tactic of asking the hosts not to reveal what was joining him in the box in order to get through may have backfired in the end.

Ant, 49, couldn’t hide his disappointment and viewers picked up on it.

‘Dying at how obvious it is that Ant cannot stand Dean,’ wrote account Liv on X.

Ísis had a theory: ‘If y’all vote for Dean one more time I think Ant’s gonna quit the job. ‘Ant is totally over Dean,’ added Dani.

Other creative fans didn’t waste any time making memes…

While debriefing on the events during the spin-off show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Unpacked, Ant reflected on his behaviour.

When initially asked by host Sam Thompson, Ant joked that he’d told him not to talk about it.

‘My annoyance came across on screen and I was quite unprofessional and I’m not happy about it,’ Ant said while holding up his hands.

Ant explained how he’d reached this point of frustration: ‘You get to the point where you’re like “What are you doing?”‘

‘I think you hid it quite well,’ Dec, 49, said mockingly. Joel Dommett then pointed out the moment where Dean tried to chat with Ant about Benidorm and he rejected it. Recalling why he didn’t engaged, Ant said he didn’t want to make small talk.

Dean has once again been voted to do a trial for the fourth day in a row, this time he will be joined by McFly singer Danny Jones for ‘High Street Horrors’. Luckily for Dean, Ant has vowed to be ‘kinder’. ‘I’m going to try good cop today,’ he summarised.

Elsewhere in the episode, the last two celebrities finally arrived in camp – Maura Higgins and Reverend Richard Coles.

I’m A Celebrity continues tonight at 9pm on ITVX.
