Anne’s poignant gift from Philip will help her recover after horror injury

Must read

Princess Anne is following in the steps of her late father and has been described as “the strongest working Royal” by a former butler to her brother.

The former butler to King Charles revealed that Princess Anne has Prince Philip’s fearless attitude that could help see her through recovery after she was involved in an accident with a horse on Sunday.

Grant Harrold worked as a butler for King Charles and Queen Camilla for seven years between 2004 to 2011 as well as spending time with the Princess Royal who “doesn’t let anything faze her”, describing her as “the strongest working Royal”.

Grant believes she inherited these qualities from her father Prince Philip, which he revealed in an interview with Slingo – including a “straight-talking” nature, good sense of humour and “no-nonsense” approach.

He said: “She was very good with her mother and spent a lot of time with her. They’ve got lots of similarities with looks and mannerisms but also with her father.

“Philip was a very straight-talking man and so is she. Anne has great humour and is a great support for the King,” reports the Mirror.  Princess Anne remains in hospital recovering from her injuries following the accident on Sunday.

It is believed she may have been kicked or headbutted by the animal on her Gatcombe Park estate.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “The Princess Royal has sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening.

“Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery.

“The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery.”.

Meanwhile Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence said Princess Anne is “recovering slowly” as he left a Bristol hospital after visiting his wife.

Her husband spent two-and-a-half hours with Anne yesterday, Wednesday, June 26, and left the main Brunel building at Southmead Hospital just before 2pm.

Asked whether Anne would be being discharged from the hospital he said: “She’ll be out when she’s ready.”
