A hurricane brought cocaine worth more than $1 million to land yesterday.
Hurricane Debby reached Florida as a Category 1 hurricane, though was downgraded to a tropical storm as it made its way across the south-eastern US.
As well as the devastation left in its wake, a member of the public discovered 25 packages containing nearly 32 kilograms of cocaine on a beach in the Florida Keys.
US border officials thanked the “good Samaritan” for reporting the find to the authorities, who estimate its value at over $1 million (around €915,000 or €785,500).
