So what’s the story? Will we be hearing Morning Glory once more? The timing seems perfect, the pay day would be huge (£50 million, according to some reports), and it does appear that obstacles may be fading.
Last year, Noel and second wife Sarah McDonald divorced, with reports of a £20 million settlement (and alimony has inspired plenty of comeback tours before). There was no love lost between McDonald and her brother-in-law, with her once describing Liam as a “fat twat doing his tribute act, balancing a tambourine on his head.” Liam previously claimed that Noel was “desperate to get Oasis back … but his missus won’t let him.”
It is always worth emphasising that Noel and Liam are family. They may squabble hard and at times viciously, but anyone with siblings might appreciate that only they can really know how seriously or deeply they take such exchanges of insults. There have been many reports that their mother, Peggy Gallagher (now 81) has urged them to mend their rift. Noel sometimes suggests he has no need to reunite Oasis, who remain a huge money earner for its main songwriter even in their absence. But perhaps keeping your dear old Irish mum happy counts as a compelling reason in itself.
