When most people hear “Fire TV” they probably think about the Fire TV Stick – but Amazon also offers a range of Fire TVs, where the whole television runs the Fire TV platform. That means you get a great streaming experience with an easy-to-use interface and Alexa.
The Prime Big Deal Days are throwing up some great deals – so good that you might want to stop lusting after that expensive OLED TV and consider Amazon’s Omni OLED instead. I’ll stand by that statement, because on a previous Black Friday, I bought this very TV – and I have no regrets.
The Fire TV Omni QLED is the top of Amazon’s range. The QLED in the name means the display is boosted by Quantum Dots, the same tech that Samsung uses on some of its best TVs. This TV is nice and bright, supporting Dolby Vision for amazing HDR visuals when you’re streaming films like Top Gun Maverick on Netflix or Jack Ryan on Prime Video.
It’s not quite the same quality as OLED, but it’s a lot cheaper.
The advantage that the Fire TV Omni QLED has over the other Fire TV models that Amazon offers is that it has a more premium build and the display is better. The combination of 4K resolution and great HDR performance makes it ideal as a main TV, where the 55 or 65-inch sizes are likely to suit you better.Â
The Omni QLED also has Alexa built-in, so you can just talk to the TV to search for content – or even control other smart devices in your home. If you’re after something to use as a second TV or for the guest bedroom, then the 4-Series and 2-Series still offer a great streaming experience with access to all the streaming services.
Amazon will also be pushing an update that means you don’t need an aerial for these TVs. Once the Freely update lands, all you’ll need is Wi-Fi and you’ll be able to watch all the streaming services AND all the terrestrial channels over Wi-Fi.
Of course, if you’re still convinced that you want to upgrade to OLED, then there’s a cracking deal on the LG OLED, where you can pick up a 55-inch 2024 OLED model with a HUGE £660 off the price – which is also the cheapest this TV has been since launch.
OLED’s advantage is that the illumination is better, able to produce much more precise blacks, without any light bleed into other areas. This OLED C model from LG also has a premium build and runs WebOS, which is considered to be one of the best TV platforms out there. These deals will only run for a limited time, but we’re sure that there will be plenty of Black Friday Fire TV deals in November.Â
Alterantively, Sky has good deals if you’re looking for TV streaming deals to take out along with your new TV. Elsewhere Debenham’s is selling Hisense TV for £499.Â
