Amazon Drops iPhone 16 Price In Rare Apple Sale

Must read

Amazon has a new deal for Apple buyers that knocks some money off the rarely discounted iPhone range.

Shoppers in the U.K can pick up the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max for less today. At roughly 5% off for all handsets, the price drops aren’t huge, but this is one of the few discounts Apple’s flagship range has seen since they were launched in September.

  • Apple iPhone 16, 128GB – £749 ($937), down from £799 ($999)
  • Apple iPhone 16 Pro 256GB – £1,049 ($1312), down from £1,099 ($1375)
  • Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max 512GB – £1,349 ($1687), down from £1,399 ($1750)

The reality of buying iPhones means that they are not subject to massive discounts like their Android competition. Samsung will happily knock hundreds of dollars off Galaxy phones, or pay way over the odds for old devices via trade-in deals (Samsung is running a huge one right now). Although Apple has matched some of Samsung’s trade-in pricing in recent years, the company—and other retailers—rarely drop iPhone prices.

Apple’s steady iPhone pricing

The upside to that has always been that Apple phones retain their value on the second-hand market. So, if you sell your iPhone 16 in three or four years, it will fetch a better price than the Google Pixel 9 or Samsung Galaxy S24.

But that may be changing. New research from Compare and Recycle shows that the iPhone 15 series lost 55% of its value in the first year, which is the most ever recorded for a one-year-old iPhone.

This is the first time in iPhone history that the value of an iPhone more than halved from its retail price in the first 12 months on the market. In comparison, the iPhone 14 series lost on average 47.8% of its value in the first year, while the iPhone 13 dropped by 41%.
