Amazon confirms 3nm chipset, new bio sensor for the Galaxy Watch7

Must read

Amazon is having real trouble keeping Samsung watches a secret – earlier this month it leaked the Galaxy Watch FE, now the Galaxy Watch 7 has been unveiled by mistake. The images on this Amazon Canada page show off some Chromebook, but the description is very much about the new watch (you can tell by the number of times “AI” is mentioned on the page).

This is allegedly the Samsung Galaxy Watch7, a 40mm Bluetooth version in a Cream color. The Amazon page confirms perhaps the most exciting aspect of the new series – the first 3nm chipset. The tentatively named Exynos W1000 should represent a major upgrade in performance and efficiency over the 5nm W930 used in the current Watch6 series. We’re pretty sure that the listed RAM and storage capacities are wrong (or left over from the Chromebook). From what we’ve heard, the Watch7 will double its storage to 32GB.

The other exciting upgrade is the second generation BioActive sensor, which will provide “more accurate measures with [sic] your heart rate during exercise and sleep” per the short description. However, that should be only a small part of it, e.g. the Watch6 BioActive sensor measures body composition, basal metabolic rate and so on. There might be new features too (blood sugar measurements, perhaps).

Amazon Canada leaks Samsung Galaxy Watch7 details

The Samsung Galaxy Watch7 will turn into an AI-powered companion with features like AI Powered Sleep, AI Powered Exercise and AI Powered Communication.

Galaxy AI will also be roped in to help with replying to incoming text messages. The on-screen keyboard is a pain to use (as it is quite small), so you can type something quickly and let AI fix up the wording on your reply.

The Amazon Canada page claims that the Galaxy Watch7 will be released on July 10, which is what other retailers are saying too. The listed price is CAD 358 (for the base model), which is lower than what the Watch6 40mm cost at launch last year (it was CAD 410, here’s the old press release). Of course, the price might be a mistake, so let’s not draw any conclusions of a price drop just yet.
