Amanda Holden shares co-star Jamie’s cancer diagnosis with heartfelt message

Amanda Holden has shared the sad news that her Heart Radio co-presenter Jamie Theakston has been diagnosed with cancer.

She shared the news on her official Instagram page, penning: “Our wonderful @jamie.theakston has been diagnosed with stage 1 laryngeal cancer. His prognosis is very good and he has an incredible team around him. Jamie.

“We love and miss you and look forward to seeing you very soon. With @sophietheakstonjewellery, your gorgeous boys, Us and the entire nation with you.. YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS.”

Jamie and Amanda host Heart Breakfast every weekday morning from 6:30am until 10am. Jamie has also hosted several television programmes for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 over the years.

He has been married since 2007 to Sophie Siegle and the couple share two children. Jamie currently lives in West London with his family.

Jamie has also taken to Instagram to share a personal statement on his cancer diagnosis. He penned to his 73,000 followers: “Hi folks, as you know I recently had an operation to remove my vocal chords.

“The biopsy has identified this as Stage 1 Laryngeal cancer. So…I have cancer…but cancer doesn’t have me!

“The prognosis is very positive and I’m hoping to be back with you in October. Until then, I’ve been told to give my voice a rest and leave you in the mostly capable hands of JK and Amanda.”

He concluded with: “Be thankful for this day, and when I see you next, I’ll have a great story to tell…Jamie x.”

The radio presenter was informed by fans two weeks ago that his voice didn’t sound right, which prompted him to get a check-up and doctors found a lesion in his vocal chords.

Many of his followers have flocked to the comments section to wish him a speedy recovery. LBC Radio presenter Carol Vorderman wrote: “Sending best Jamie. thank goodness your listeners spotted the change in your voice, all found early and you’ll be back keeping everyone happy very soon.”

TV chef Jamie Oliver said: “big love brother you got this sending love xxx.”

Married at First Sight star Mel Schilling also chimed in: “Sending all my love & cancer-kicking strength Jamie,” whilst Strictly star Oti Mabuse said: “Get well soon.”

Davina McCall also wrote: “Oh wow!!!!! Speedy recovery sweet cheeks x sending you big healing hugs.”

Speaking to her listeners, Amanda Holden said that the “show must go on” and that she will “hold the fort” whilst Jamie takes time off to recover.
