All Samsung software everywhere to use One UI brand from 2025

Must read

The Samsung Developer Conference 2024 is underway and we’re on the ground in San Jose bringing you everything that the company is showing off at the conference. Samsung has made some noteworthy announcements today, including one that we’ve been nudging the company for since quite some time.

Samsung has many different product lines and the software nomenclature is segregated, which isn’t great from an ecosystem point of view, as it unnecessarily makes things not as streamlined as they could be. Samsung is making amends now by announcing that the software experience for its various product lines will be unified under the One UI brand next year.

Get ready to find One UI across Samsung’s diverse product lines

The company’s custom skin for Android has gone through several name changes over the years but Samsung has settled on One UI since 2018. It’s now what the software experience is called on its mobile devices. Other product lines, such as home appliances and TVs, have different names for the software even though it would have been much better to bring them all under the One UI banner, especially since Samsung’s been focusing heavily on making its ecosystem much more seamless.

Samsung has confirmed at SDC 2024 that it’s going to integrate the software experience of its major product lines, including mobile devices, TVs, and home appliances, under the One UI umbrella starting in 2025. This will ensure that Samsung products deliver a cohesive product experience. Samsung has also reiterated its commitment to provide OS upgrades for up to seven years for mobile devices.

Artificial intelligence features quite heavily in everything Samsung is doing now. To that end, the company has reiterated its resolve to create “AI for good,” ensuring that this new technology is utilized to revolutionize user experiences, address societal challenges, and “create a better world for future generations.” All that’s just corporate speak for more AI on everything Samsung makes.
