This weekend, ET doesn’t just mean extra-terrestrial; it means extra tickets at the box office. The legacy stand-alone sequel Alien: Romulus has invaded the theaters and, as of Saturday morning, will become the franchise’s second-biggest opening weekend. Deadline reports the Cailee Spaeny-led film is estimated to earn between $40-$42 million, falling behind 2012’s Prometheus at $51 million. It’s still pretty good gross income for a movie with a lot of gross aliens. Yucky! However, despite being second place on the Alien franchise opening weekend charts, it’ll take the no. 1 spot at the box office, bumping the Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds household’s Deadpool and Wolverine and It Ends With Us down to second and third. The latter film still couldn’t pass Deadpool, despite the Marvel movie being out for almost a month already. At least the couple is sharing each other’s wins.
