  • Aldi’s own-brand baked beans awarded Best Buy and Great Value accolades by Which?
  • The supermarket product scored higher than popular Heinz Baked Beanz, which cost more than triple the price

Aldi’s Bramwells Baked Beans in Rich Tomato Sauce (£0.41, 410g) have been crowned as the best baked beans on the market by trusted consumer champion Which?. The beans, which come in at 41p, secured not only a coveted Best Buy accolade but were also named as Great Value, blowing the competition out of the water.

Amongst those that scored lower than Aldi’s winning beans were the popular branded Heinz Baked Beanz in Rich Tomato Sauce (£1.40, 415g) which are more than triple the price of Aldi’s higher placing product. Heinz only scored 72% in the Which? ranking, being easily pipped to the post by Aldi’s 76%.

Also beaten by Aldi’s low-cost offering were the costlier M&S Baked Beans in Rich Tomato Sauce (£0.50, 400g) as well as those from Tesco (£0.43, 420g) and Waitrose (£0.55, 420g) proving once and for all, beanz meanz Aldi!

Judges commended Aldi’s winning beans both for outstanding taste and exceptional value, commenting that the beans “look good and have an appealing aroma”. In fact, three-quarters (74%) of the judging panel said the strength of flavour was perfect.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, says: “If Aldi stands for one thing, it’s that low prices doesn’t mean compromising on quality or taste. Which? recognising our Bramwells Baked Beans as a Best Buy and Great Value and rating them above so many higher cost options on the market, is testament to that.”

The Bramwells Baked Beans in Rich Tomato Sauce are available in Aldi stores now.
