Aldi shutting this North Staffordshire store for 24 days

Must read

Shoppers are being promised a ‘brighter new layout’ at an Aldi store – when it reopens after a three-week overhaul. The branch in Leek is the latest to be spruced up as bosses prepare to temporarily close the store.

It was back in August 2000 when the Haywood Street branch first opened its doors after it was built on the site of a former car park. Now Aldi is planning to give it a refurbishment.

Bosses have confirmed the Haywood Street supermarket will shut at 6pm on June 17 and reopen on July 11.

An Aldi spokesperson said: “When we reopen on July 11 the store will be in our new layout, which ensures more space for fresh, chilled and food-to-go ranges, and will be much brighter with simpler layouts. We will keep the community updated on developments.”

It represents more investment from the retailer into North Staffordshire. Back in 2018 the Tunstall store reopened after being rebuilt while in 2021 Aldi swapped one branch in Trent Vale for a larger branch further along Newcastle Road.

Also that year and Aldi’s new Biddulph branch opened while the firm has recently won permission to build a supermarket in Cheadle.

There are also stores in Fenton, Trentham, Stone, Kidsgrove, Newcastle, Meir Park, and Norton Heights.
