Aldi is all set to open 11 new supermarkets across the UK before Christmas.
New stores are set to open this week in Sedgley in the West Midlands and Castle Douglas in Scotland as the German discount chain competes for holiday shoppers.
Additional locations are scheduled to open later this month in Muswell Hill, in North London, Horsham, in West Sussex, Loanhead, in Midlothian and Pwllheli, in North Wales.
This is not it. The expansion will be spread over the next month with supermarkets also set to open at Totton in Hampshire, Cribbs Causeway in Bristol and Macduff in Banffshire in the coming weeks.
The supermarket chain announced that it plans to refurbish over 15 of its existing stores in the coming two months. This effort is part of a broader strategy to attract Christmas shoppers in a highly competitive holiday market.
By updating and enhancing its stores, the company aims to improve the shopping experience and appeal to more customers during the busy festive season.
Jonathan Neale, Aldi UK’s real estate managing director, said: “At Aldi, we’re committed to making high-quality, affordable food accessible to everyone.
“Our new store openings are a testament to our ongoing investment in the UK, and we’re thrilled to bring Aldi’s unbeatable prices to even more communities ahead of the festive season.”
The popular supermarket giant recently shared its ‘long-term target’ of having 1,500 UK stores and said it was investing £800 million in expanding its presence in the country this year.
On Wednesday, it said that its store assistants receive starting pay of £12.40 per hour, with those based in London earning £13.65 per hour.
Meanwhile, Aldi’s beloved Christmas mascot, Kevin the Carrot, is back for his ninth consecutive year in the supermarket’s festive advert.
