I’m a Celebrity heated up last night as tensions heightened in the camp. Twelve campmates are now in the camp after newcomers Maura Higgins and Reverend Richard Coles joined the main camp.
During last night’s episode viewers watched as two celebrity’s were involved in a heated discussion. Coronation Street star Alan Halsall and BBC Radio 1 presenter Dean McCullough had crossed words after Dean fell asleep when he should have been helping Loose Women’s Jane Moore with chores.
When Jane went to collect firewood, she told the camp “I can’t do it on my own”. Alan tried to help the presenter and tried to wake Dean up. After a failed attempt, the soap star remarked “You don’t fancy it? No?” before taking it upon himself to help Jane collect the wood himself.

The 32-year-old presenter was less than impressed and snapped at Alan. He said: “Listen to me. If you’re going to wake me up, you need to give me a minute, alright? It takes me a couple of minutes for my contact lenses to get back working again, all right?”
The outburst continued as he added: “So you don’t need to turn around to me and say: ‘Do you not fancy it?’ OK? And then turn around and walk away.”
The actor defended himself and assured Dean he had not intended for him comments to come across in the way he had taken them. He made clear he was not trying to have a dig at the radio DJ, to which Dean said he understood but that he felt he “didn’t get a chance to respond”.
Alan’s Coronation Street co-star, Andy Whyment, who plays the role of Kirk Sutherland supported Tyrone Dobbs star. He posted a clip of the awkward scene and captioned it “My bro @alanhalsall. Handled himself so well here.” Other Corrie actors were quick to defend their colleague in the comments.
Sally Ann Matthews who plays the role of Jenny Bradley commented: “I got the ginger mist can’t lie. Al is the best” Paula Lane, renowned for playing Kylie Platt added “Don’t know how he kept his cool tbh! I’d have blown up!”
Alan’s onscreen mum, Claire Sweeney, offered her support to the actor stating “Very dignified” and Abi Franklin actress Sally Carmen said “I love Al”
Fans of the ITV star also offered their support, one angry fan said: “Dean needs to go, he was out of order. Total respect to Alan.” While another wrote “It was unbelievable! Who did Dean think he was squaring up to him like that?” Another fan added “Dean’s true colours there.”
